NOTE

MORE INFORMATION

The agate (from the ancient greek : ἀχάτης , achátes ) is a variety of chalcedony , generic name given to quartz , when this occurs in compact masses of silica microcrystalline with a fibrous-oriented texture. Agate has a typical zoned structure which is visible even to the naked eye, thanks to the diversity of color.

Agate is formed by rhythmic deposition of silica , usually within cavities amygdalari of rocks basaltic , or petrified (agatized) woods.

When the agate is presented in flat and parallel bands, of a contrasting color (light / dark), it takes the name of onyx (from the Greek ὄνυξ, ónyx , nail, for the translucent aspect). Taking advantage of the layers of contrasting color (generally two but, exceptionally, up to five), onyx is used in the glyptic to realize cameos .

There Paesina stone consists mainly of compact limestone and clay , or marly limestone, and is almost exclusively typical of Tuscany . Geologically it originated about 50 million years ago ( Eocene - Paleocene ).

The Paesina Stone strikes for the chromatic contrast of its components, light gray for the limestone , reddish-brown for the iron oxides , black for manganese and blue for the clay .

Jade is a mineralogically hard stone belonging to silicates . The name of jade usually indicates nephrite, a silicate of calcium and magnesium , and jadeite , a silicate of sodium and aluminum. Nephritis is found in East Turkestan and Siberia , in the area of Lake Baikal ; while jadeite comes from Burma and reaches China through the provinces of Yunnan and Guangdong only in the second half of the 18th century. The wide range of colors is due to small and different quantities of different metal oxides such as iron , chromium and manganese . The colors can vary from green to milky white, from brown to dark gray, from yellow to black. Siberian nephrite is dark green with small black spots, while jadeite is purer and more vivid due to the presence of chromium .

Aquamarine ( Latin language aqua marina ) is a variant of the mineral beryl , of the homonymous group. Crystallizes with hexagonal system, with chemical formula Be 3 Al 2 Si 6 O 18 , hardness 7.5-8 and density 2.6-2.9. The color depends on the presence of titanium or iron . Heat can cause color change, as can radioactive radiation.

Rose quartz is a translucent quartz, pale pink in color, but it can also be crystalline, up to being almost transparent or translucent in the most precious and sought-after varieties; the color of the powder is white, while it has a vitreous luster and an excellent diffusion of light (it is always better not to keep it too long under the sun: it could fade and lose its particular luster).
