Tourmalines are a group of minerals belonging to the silicate class, order cyclosilicates .
The name derives from the Sinhalese turmali which literally means mixed parcel or stone of various colours, in the past it indicated the name of the crystals brought to Europe from Ceylon .
Hematite is an iron mineral (an oxide ), quite frequent in nature, belonging to the homonymous group. The name derives from the Greek αἷμα ( haîma ) - "blood", from the blood -red color that the mineral sometimes takes on in the crystalline state, while its powder is always red. According to the historian Theophrastus , the stone would be similar to solidified blood .
